Security Chair, Herbert Nelson, Jr.

Herb Nelson is a highly motivated and an extremely capable service veteran who was born in Kingston, Jamaica.   In 1972 Mr. Nelson emigrated to NYC and joined the US Army 6 weeks later, because of various businesses asking for his military service or draft status.   Inititally, he intended stay for a three-year period as a member of the US Army elite Special Forces Group in Ft Devens, Massachusetts, but went on to have 7 reenlistments and a 24-year career that saw service in Latin America, Europe and supporting roles in Combat Service and Combat units. 

Upon retirement from supporting Pentagon and White House units decided to complete his degree at the University of Maryland University College in 1997, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Management Science (BSc) in 2001, and later on in 2007, he obtained a master’s degree (MA) in International Relations from Webster’s University.  During that time Herb served as an Access Control Officer, Data Management Specialist, Intelligence Analyst and Senior Intelligence and Business Analyst with a variety of companies doing business within the US Intelligence community. Mr. Nelson’s skill-set covers 39 years in the US military and Intelligence communities. Experiences span Competitive Business Intelligence, Counter Intelligence, Counter Proliferation and Counter Terrorism as well as experience with recruiting and retaining military assets for various military commands, and projects within the Intelligence Community (IC).  He has held Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information w/full polygraph (TS/SCI) clearances.
